In the future, we will be implementing more than the simple collection of geoslash info by Twheres. For example, we will support queries directly to the @twheres Twitter account like
@twheres @stoweboyd
and Twheres will respond with my last location update.
Also, when you post that you have just landed at /SFO for example, Twheres would send you back information about contacts that may have recently checked in there, too.
We also will be collating updates associated with locations, so you’ll be able to visit www.twheres.com/USA/CA/San+Francisco (or the like) and see who has checked in there. Or www.twheres.com/USA/CA/San+Francisco/annabelles+bar+and+bistro.
These features are not supported yet, so please don’t send public messages to @twheres until we announce the beta.

Ben is my partner in Twheres, an Edglings project. I met Ben because of his Twiphlo app, which is configured as an external app, not an appliance, but is still geolocational.
Ben works in San Francisco, and is a designer developer wizard. He posts (infrequently) at practicalist.com.
Here’s a review i did on Twiphlo.

Going to invite a handful of people to the alpha of our first Twitter ‘appliance’, called Twheres.
Twheres is a location appliance that is geoslash-aware. Geoslash is the term coined by Ross Mayfield for the ‘/location’ microsyntax I introduced a few weeks ago (see A Modest Proposal For More Microstructure: Twitter /Locations and Location, Location, Location: More On /Location And Microsyntax).
In a nutshell, the idea is that Twheres will listen to your Twitter stream, and pick up geoslash information, and store it. There are one word geoslashes —
Just landed at /SFO
— and multiword geoslashes —
Waiting at /Annabelles, 68 4th St, San Francisco/ for @gregarious
There is also an optional time clause, to allow users to project visits to places:
Will be in /Montreal Canada: October 11-15/ and I can’t wait!
At the moment we are not linked to the www.twheres.com domain, but are using www.sweetobscurity.com instead.
To use the app, go to www.sweetobscurity.com, and follow the instructions.
Please don’t tell others about the app yet, but please do start creating geoslashes as it makes sense, and please send feedback to stowe.boyd@gmail.com.
